The Flow editor
The fastest way to make or change a song is the Flow panel: the presentation’s words as plain text. Type, and the slides follow.- An empty line ends a slide.
- A line like
ChorusorVerse 2:starts a group. - Chords in brackets —
[G]Amazing [C]grace— sit over the letter after them. - Paste a chord sheet from a website, ChordPro, OnSong or a page of HTML, and it’s tidied into that shape as it lands.
To capture: The Flow panel beside the slides, a chorus being typed and the slides following.
Groups
A group is a run of slides with a name and a colour: Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge.- In Flow, a heading line starts one.
- On the slides, right-click and choose Group. One slide starts a group that carries on to the next. Several picked slides are each put in the group, and the slides around them keep theirs.
- New Group… names one and picks its colour; None takes the group off.
Labels
A label names one slide — “repeat”, “instrumental”, a note for whoever is at the desk. Right-click and choose Label. Labels have colours too, set in Settings › Groups & Labels.Arrangements
An arrangement is the order a song is sung in: Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Chorus. Keep several for different services, and choose which one a service uses. A chorus sung three times is one set of slides played three times — fix it once.To capture: Amazing Grace with its arrangement above the slides, groups colour-coded.
Chords and keys
- Show chords over the words on a stage screen for the band, or on any text layer. Choose whether they’re drawn and how they look in the inspector’s Chords section, or Flow’s Chords popover for a whole song.
- Transpose a song into another key, and the chords move with it — with a capo where one helps.
To capture: A stage screen showing lyrics with chords, transposed up a step.
