What’s on the screens is built from layers:

Clearing

The clear buttons beside the preview take one layer off the screens — Clear Slides, Clear Media, Clear Audio and so on — with the service’s transition, so words fade off the way they came on. A slide can clear layers by itself when it goes live: right-click it and choose Clear, then a layer or All.

Blackout

Blackout fades every audience screen to black and back again, leaving everything underneath as it was. Run it from a remote, MIDI, OSC, or Siri and Shortcuts.

Looks

A Look decides what a screen shows and how. A Look can:
  • leave layers off — a lobby TV on the countdown and announcements while the auditorium shows lyrics,
  • set the slides in another theme — larger words for the overflow room, a lower third for the livestream.
Make Looks in the Looks Editor. Switch the live Look from the Screens menu on the Mac, the ••• menu on iPad and iPhone, a slide’s Add Action › Look, or Siri and Shortcuts (Make Look Live). A change of Look dissolves rather than cuts.

Overlays

An overlay sits over the slides and stays up while they change: a lower third with the speaker’s name, a logo, a line of words. Design them in the Overlay Editor, and show them from a slide (Add Action › Show Overlay) or Shortcuts.
